Safe Families for Children – Maine’s mission is to host vulnerable children and create extended family–like support for families through a community of devoted volunteers who are motivated by compassion to keep children safe and families intact.

We realize that Safe Families is not like any other organization in Maine, offering long lasting natural relationships to families facing isolation, all the while parents still have custody of their children. Families we support may struggle with medical crises, homelessness, unemployment, lack of childcare, domestic violence, recovery, substance use disorder, mental health, or hospitalization.

Safe Families Maine is a 501c3 nonprofit, evidenced based, volunteer driven, professionally supported movement that provides hope and support to families in our local communities. Serving in Machias, Greater Bangor, Rockland, Topsham/Brunswick/Bath, Lewiston/Auburn, Portland, and Biddeford communities.
